It looks like the forum is getting too much spamming crap.
Is there anything we could do to stop it.
If there is not technical way to prevent this I may volunteer to clean the forum periodically. Ones in 1-2 days. But will need some administrative/mod rights I guess. |

That ... or the moderators who volunteered to moderate could moderate.
But where do we want the line drawn ... delete just the spam, or actually enforce the sticky stated rules? The former would be fairly simple with frequent monitoring, the latter a time-intensive, judgemental nightmare. |

reporting each case takes a little time, but it works. I used to do this regularly but I'm not on as much. _________________ Michael

Maybe a way to eliminate, or at least minimize spammers, would be to allow only paying iWindsurf members the opportunity to post to the forums. |

That'd work for me as well Steve, but I suspect those who advertise here
legitimately might not get all the eyeballs they want, if that were done.
Not sure how the economics of keeping these pages open works, but I bet there
are a lot of legitimate posters that don't have an IW account. I guess they could
look at the pages though. With the Utah Windriders association Web site,
the admins had to resort to approving each member application individually,
before they could post to get the spam out of there.

It always brings back fond memories when you mention the UWA. I loved everything about Utah, including learning to WS there among its HUGE repertoire of other ... sometimes world-class ... outdoor sports. When a west coast CEO wanted to move his corporation and people to Utah, they refused because of all the "religious nuts" there. That's sad, especially since someone's religion or lack thereof has almost nothing to do with another person. When I lived there, outdoor sports interests stirred up more public legislative furor than even abortion issues.

I'm pleased you enjoyed your time in Utah Mike. Much like here (Columbia River Gorge), a recreationalists dream.
My kids both moved to Colorado when they became adults, another recreational paradise. It's in their blood.

what cgoudie said. Rates would need to be increased to cover the loss in ad revenue. _________________ Michael
