San Luis Sensor 2023 yeah it's early and cold but
it looks like the San Luis Water level sensor is working again.

San Luis possible Sunday afternoon.
Charts are predicting something.
Went last Saturday but the wind dropped at noon as
soon as I got rigged at around 12:30
Top lake is full right to the top.
Weed wacker or machete needed to wack the
path next to the tree.

Prediction for Saturday does not look too shabby either. And the O'Neill Forebay water level is 222 feet. Yahoo!

Got there at 10:30 low clouds and cold but defiantly windy.
Put up a 5.3
It was kind of up and down and gusty.
Sun came out around Noon and things got nicer.
4 Wing Dingers including Pete showed up around 1 pm
they seemed to be making good use of the conditions.
packed it up around 3:30

I would have thought with the shallow waters & weeds foiling would be a bit of a PITA? Were the wingers out in the main lake or using shorter masts?

Weed's are only there from Mid June on.
And only get bad in July . However if
they raise the water level the weeds can essentially
disappear.
There were little sticks in the water which I blame
for my spinout's though .
Probably came of the shore due to high water level.
Also the water level is very high right now.
See link at begging of Thread .
Yesterday the Foils where going wherever they wanted.
pretty much . It's a different story in July.
Shallow Bottom in places can be more of a problem.
Yes it was all at the forbay.
I don't know anything about there mast length but it seemed
pretty typical .
Peter Schiebal (Caution Kites ) has been coming up with
a Santa Cruz crew and a few of Santa Cruz windsurfers
are trying the Foiling there now.

Upper Lake is filled right to the Highway.

Thanks ctuna,
I always launch from the Medeiros side and have never been brave enough to run a fin bigger than 32 cm, which is why I never really considered foiling there. Either the water is obviously deep enough or they are running 70 cm masts. My shortest mast is 85 cm so I will need to exercise caution if I try foiling there.

Sailed the lake last Wed. 5/24 and Memorial Day, 5/29. 4.6 plenty overpowered on Wed. and 5.2 ranging from overpowered to barely holding on on Monday. Lake level was only 219 on Wed., which gets your fin a little scuffed up. 223+ on Monday. You could sail right up to your car without hitting the bottom. No weeds yet Very Happy .
