Anyone have any recommendations for a place to stay in Bonaire? My girlfriend and I are going in a couple weeks. We dont need anything too fancy but wed like something clean and memorible (view, on the beach, nice low key atmosphere, quiet). We plan on windsurfing and diving. A dive shop recommendation would be appreciated as well.
Thanks. |

accomodations at Lac Bay are out of the way, and tranquil:

This place is nearer to town, good food, cheap and nice:

more pricey but by the dive operator:

This place was good for diving:

Try happy holiday homes, stayed there a few years ago. They offer 2 bedroom cottages with kitches.owned by a dutch malaysian couple, very well run and maintained.
They are located between Lac Bay[windsurfing]and the main Town-Kraailendijk. |

Most of Bonaire has a low key atmosphere
We stayed there for 10 days and were beginning to run out of places to eat dinner...
We stayed at the Lac Bay Resort. It was handy for windsurfing, but we found ourselves driving across the island everyday to either go for dinner or go to the supermarket.
N.B. None of the restuarants are cheap!
Theres also not much in the way of sandy beaches on Bonaire but you can literally walk off anywhere on the West coast and youre at the reef within seconds.
Since we had gone there for windsurfing we didnt have dive gear reserved. We tried the Sand Dollar but they were completely out - we eventually rented everything from the Green Parrot Dive Shop - small operation but seemed very professional.
Hope you enjoy your trip - I found the windsurfing there better than Aruba...
