Wow what a major bust to the forecast today at Stevenson! Would like to get some input from the iwindsurf guru's (windfind?) as to why this seems to continually happen. Even Temira (though on vacation this week) struggles with this topic. Is the east wind at Stevenson so localized that models don't pick it up? Wassup??

Not trying to complain (much), as a local I had the river to myself for most of the afternoon. Just damn glad I didn't schedule something else, based on the very inaccurate forecast. Even the mid day update had no clue as to what was about to happen on the river.

I can. It's gonna average 33 mph from 95 degrees all day, with shoulder-high clean swell in the northern 2/3 of Da River and air temps in the 80s and water temp pushing 70. Enjoy.

Well, why not? It's happened before. Smile

If it's so easy, why don't YOU predict it?

Only the people who have to drive more than 2.5 minutes need a forecast.

Does 185 miles, each way, for an apre-lunch session, count? Common where I used to live, and worth every gallon if the forecast of warm Chinook winds averaging 30 to 40 mph comes through. New Mexico windsurfing at its finest.

Good forecasting gets me out of commiting to a day of chores. It does matter, even if I am local. Just saying....

Exactly! I say enjoy it if you get it. Weather prediction is difficult.
Fussing about wind you missed because it wasn't predicted to be
strong enough to go...………..bummer, but ……...

-Craig

p.s. I was skunked twice last week when I thought the East winds should be better than the forecast, and Iwindsuf called it correctly. I could have
listened to them and stayed home, instead I at least got wet, and had
lunch with friends in a darned pleasant environment.
