When someone really wants to rattle isobars' cage, they scream bloody murder about us being overrun by illegal immigrants at the border bringing every imaginable problem that will ruin us as a nation.

The thing that he conveniently forgets, or maybe just can't seem to grasp, is that a vast number of American individuals and companies always seem eager and ready to give these immigrants jobs and places to live. Until these Americans are targeted and something meaningful is done about it, it's a never ending circle.

Speaking for myself, I have a hard time getting hateful about folks coming to America looking for a brighter future. When you think about it, isn't that what made America what it is?

The job market is DRUM tight. If anyone gets fired, there are 10 better jobs waiting for them. Restaurant jobs in Boulder paying $27 /hour, everywhere. As of right now, the inflation costs are being off set by higher wealth/wages.

The economy is measured by GDP, unemployment, and asset prices...and all counts it's doing very well. It's tough to spin it any other way and your concerns, primarily inflation are well warranted.

Concerns about inflation and the relationship to government spending are real, but disappear when conservatives want to spend something, or deregulate the housing market to allow toxic loans, or pass massive tax cuts for the wealthy.

There is little doubt that deficit spending during the Obama administration and the Trump administration play a role in inflation. But so does a real estate market taking advantage of the tax code to build houses for the wealthy. So does military spending. Et cetera. While Trump was POTUS, Republicans were fond of saying that deficits don't matter. Now inflation and code words for racial, LBGT and immigrant animus are their messages for the 2022 midterms.

When jobless claims come in at a 50 year low, and mid terms are looming, the opposition party brings all the guns out. That's why the swords were out during Judge Jackson's confirmation process.

Biden wants to pour MORE money into the Covid fight despite the fact that out of his $1.9T March "Covid Relief Package" only $80B was even slated for public health and only $16B was slated for vaccines and therapies. The other $1.8 TRILLION was earmarked for and is being spent on bribing voters via such means as child tax credits, paying even more people even more money not to work*, and paying more people more money to draw breath (and, of course, vote Democrat."

* "Unemployment" figures are based on the percentage of people out of but looking for work. Why the hell is ANYONE not qualified to earn $60-80k "looking for work" when when they pocket more money by NOT working?

Source: The WSJ, based on the $1.9T bill as passed and ensuing spending.

Why should I buy in to a WSJ opinion piece undoubtedly full of misinformation and negative bias?

Seeing what isobars is sharing here, it's a hateful rant from the right that is supposed to rile the ranks up. Of course, he spins up the ugliness quite a few notches in his own predictable way. That's his thing.

It took 13 seconds to find dozens of sources. Here's one: 'https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/congress/what-s-1-9-trillion-covid-bill-biden-just-signed-n1260719

You idiots just don't WANT to hear facts contrary to your ideology.

I think many of us here could say the same about you. Have you ever looked on the positive side of the many things that you don't like about what's in the Covid bill? To be honest, I don't think you have, not for a second.

The positive side (for socialists and for the masses who'd rather get paid not to work than actually ... you know ... work) has nothing to with being deliberately and egregiously deceived by the entire left wing of our government. It's the crap concealed from voters and the legislature that piss them off. Can't they just call it what it is rather than cherry picking less than 9% of what it's REALLY about: The FARMOST left's concept of Amerika? When I look at the rest of the bill, I see mostly socialism paid for by play money worth less every day.

Do you LIKE being taken for a fool by the government you helped elect? (Trump has nothing to do with this; we're talking about the Covid Relief Program parts I and II.)

Are you financially at your wits end and on the brink of collapse? Has the socialist government totally ruined you and left you threadbare and wanting?

Let's be honest, I bet you receive far more than I do from the federal government. You've been on the government teat forever.

Do you feel at all like an unworthy taker? How do you justify getting so much?

So, despite the fact that 1,500,000 military members were wounded or killed in battle fighting for your right to be an ass, you are anti-military? Do you simply feel it was their duty to be maimed and killed so you are free to be an ass, so they shouldn't get paid for it? Or are you simply one of the so-called "people" whose response when you learn of someone's contribution to your country is "Fuck you for your service"?

You were going to come back with your tired old defense that I was never in combat, thus deserve no pay for my service. You've beaten this horse to death before, so you know that:

• For every service member injured or killed in battle, scores supported their missions in non-combat roles.

• Every ambulatory serviceman is subject to immediate reassignment to combat. (I added the Expert Small Arms Marksmanship ribbon to my three rows of ribbons on the firing range, not in a laboratory.)

• I even asked, in person, one-on-one, face-to-face, THE Washington, DC Veterans Affairs Director of Military Benefits whether I should voluntarily waive my benefits so those injured in combat could have greater access to them. Her answer is best summarized as an emphatic "Of course not. Without support (i.e., non-combat) personnel, our combat capability would be of no use."

I've contributed significantly to our combat readiness in many weapons systems used in many roles in three major wars (and my wife has done MUCH more than I in that regard). I've earned hazardous duty compensation for flying in combat aircraft testing some of "my" weapons systems. I directed one BrickBat One (highest national priority by order of the POTUS) program and was involved in another. Some of the technologies I was heavily involved in are still in use today in both military and civilian applications (ever hear of AI? Remote sensing? Fighter aircraft simulators, navigation, and combat fire control systems? Cruise missiles? The Minuteman ICBM? Combat aircraft IFF systems? Directed energy weapons?) I helped put man on the moon before joining the military.

Now tell us, Steve ... What have YOU done for your country? (Even if you can come up with a couple of contributions, why do you hate our military so damned much?)

Your fat paycheck as a government contractor involved no obligations at all to your country. You got all the benefits, including your retirement pay that's big enough to fund your first home, without risking a hangnail or actually doing much of anything to keep our nation safe.

You've just demonstrated -- again -- that you're not only a world class, hypocritical ingrate but also the ass whose rights we protect, Steve.

Now go out and shoot your neighbor's dog for being a dog -- i.e., barking -- like you advocated in your op-ed letter published in the L.A. Times.
