Has anyone tried to sail Galveston on the bay side? I was at San Luis Pass cruising quite nicely in 25 to 30 k winds until my sesh was cut short by a sand bar hidden roughly 1.5 inches below the surface. Ouch.
Are there any better (deeper) areas? Thanks |

Ive sailed near the pier at Sea Isle (which is about 5 miles west of Jamaica Beach). If you walk out past the pier the water is usually deep enough to sail. Water level seems to be much lower in the winter. |

I suppose the north winds push the water out. |

At Sea Isle I sail on the north side of the island so I would expect the north wind to push the water towards the shore. |
