Will Lake Isabella be closed to all public access due to government shutdown? |

nope - the Forest Service offices are closed, but lake access is unfettered. The only restrictions at the moment are imposed by the lack of water - very few safe sailing sites remain, unless you are willing to zoom right through a line of trees |

in the meantime, a feeble "barrier" was placed at the official entrance to the AuxDamRecArea, but it was shoved out of the way almost immediately, and nobody has seen fit to put it back into position. Since there is nothing at all - no notice, no barriers - at the (more convenient) entrance via the Old Isabella launch ramp, most folks continue their lake use like nothing has changed - myself included: I windsurf when there is wind, and paddle my SUP when there isn't - and nobody has protested - yet.
So far for our shut-down |
