On Saturday, Klobuchar, a 2020 Democratic presidential hopeful, told a large crowd at Jaspers Winery that she sat next to McCain and Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) during Trumps inaugural address.

I sat on that stage between Bernie and John McCain, and John McCain kept reciting to me names of dictators during that speech, because he knew more than any of us what we were facing as a nation, she said. He understood it. He knew because he knew this man more than any of us did.

Tim Hogan, communications director for Klobuchars presidential campaign, told HuffPost in an emailed statement that Senator Klobuchar had a long-time friendship with Senator McCain, she has defended him against President Trumps attacks in the past, and she has deep respect for his family.

While she was simply sharing a memory, she continues to believe that the best stories about Senator McCain are not about the views he had about President Trump: they are about McCains own valor and heroism, Hogan said.

'Donald Trump is a clear and present danger': Hillary Clinton

Quote:
Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton talks about how the Donald Trump's debts, exposed by recent New York Times reporting, represent a national security liability, and wonders if some of that indebtedness explains Trump's deference to Vladimir Putin.

Over 1,000 current and former CDC officers signed a letter of concern for 'politicization and silencing' of the agency

"The absence of national leadership on COVID-19 is unprecedented and dangerous," the letter stated.
President Donald Trump's administration has been criticized for intervening with the CDC for its political agenda. In September, Trump appointees reportedly delayed CDC reports that were not in line with its politics.

Over 1,000 current and former CDC officers signed an open letter criticizing the politicization of the health agency in the US's response to the coronavirus pandemic.

"We hereby express our concern about the ominous politicization and silencing of the nation's health protection agency during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic," the letter stated.

The letter was signed by current or alumni Epidemic Intelligence Service officers of the CDC, including Jeffrey Koplan, who was the agency's director under former presidents Bill Clinton and George W. Bush.

"The absence of national leadership on COVID-19 is unprecedented and dangerous," the letter added. "Inconsistent contact tracing efforts are confined within each state's borders while coronavirus infections sadly are not. Such chaos is what CDC customarily avoided by its long history of collaboration with state and local health authorities in developing national systems for disease surveillance and coordinated control."

The letter comes after 62% of adults reported last month they fear "political pressure" will rush a coronavirus vaccine, according to a new poll from Kaiser Family Foundation. Last month, Politico reported an email that suggested Trump administration officials delayed CDC reports that went against the president's political stance. Earlier this month, the Associated Press reported that the White House planted political official switch to keep an eye on the agency's scientists.

Seems rather suspicious that now that he is "immune" from the virus there would be no need for him to get the vaccine.

Stick that in your Qanon pipe and smoke it!

The primary C&P dangers I see are socialists, fascists, and simply ignorant people basing their voting on their personal hatred of Trump regardless of his accomplishments and Biden's senility, proven corruption, and decades of bigotry, all on the public record except on Twitter and Facebook. Fortunately, the social(ist) networks may get their blatant, admitted censorship and teflon coating shoved up their asses by the bill to modify Section 230.

Nothing personal, you idiots (including the non-blacks who support such total bullshit), but how about a free FUCK YOU, you greedy bastards? Get a freaking job, invent something special, and consider WORKING for life's rewards, just like everybody else had to do.

I personally saw a nighttime KKK march through a neighborhood, MLK's subsequent march into Montgomery from Selma, and Negroes/colored people (those were the preferred term for them back then) forcing whites off the downtown sidewalks on a daily basis.

Oh, Jesus Christ, mac ... I haven't even looked at your no-doubt-stupid post, but the title alone reinforces our conclusion made years ago that forums serve only one purpose for you: stir up the porta potty, add still more shit to it, and pour it into the parking lot to see how much trouble and hatred you can generate among a group who should be friends.

OF COURSE it's the woman's right to choose ... WHETHER TO SPREAD HER LEGS. Beyond that point biology takes over. Neither she nor Obama has the right to let a viable newborn die on the slab just because Mommy Dearest no longer wants it.

I once had a guy follow me almost at a jog (i.e., he probably hadn't moved as fast in his life as my normal walking pace) through a large mall and into a store to ask me for a handout. His frigging wristwatch and his sneakers were EACH worth more than everything I was wearing INCLUDING my watch and my prescription eyeglasses. I don't recall what color his skin was, because I don't give a crap, but the incident manifested the handout mentality of a large segment of our population. You know, the whole Bernie Sanders, AOC, BLM, DNC, Pelosi, et.al. FREE EVERYTHING socialist crowd.

I was tested for AIDS and drugs and body weight just to join and stay in the Air Force,

Certified videos prove that mac, Chandler, vientocaliente, Dean, Obama, Billy Graham, Mother Theresa, Kamala Harris, and Joe Biden gleefully eat/ate deep-fried fried human babies for breakfast. No one has ever SEEN those videos, but by golly they exist, because "I seen it in The Atlantic".

this is a statement by a lifelong ultra right wing retired judge who Pence brought in because of his legal stature and gave Pence his advice.

Judge Luttig: Trump is a ‘clear and present danger’ to democracy

Quote:
About a month ago, former Defense Secretary Mark Esper, who worked alongside Donald Trump for a year and a half, publicly declared that the former president is unsuited for public office. Esper went on to agree that Trump represents “a threat to democracy.”

As political criticisms go, this remains a unique condemnation. Officials are routinely targeted with all kinds of rebukes about their competence and integrity, but to say that a leader represents “a threat to democracy” is to argue that our system of government may no longer endure if that leader holds a position of influence.

It’s the difference between a crooked politician and a dangerous one: The problems posed by the latter are existential.

Esper’s fully justified concerns came to mind again yesterday during the latest Jan. 6 committee hearing, as one of the witnesses echoed the former Pentagon chief. CNBC reported:

Retired federal Judge J. Michael Luttig, who advised Pence ahead of the Capitol riot, directly accused Trump and his allies of waging a “war on democracy” on Jan. 6, 2021. He called Trump a “clear and present danger” to American democracy. “Our democracy today is on a knife’s edge,” Luttig, a former judge on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit, said.

It’s likely that much of the country is unfamiliar with Luttig, but circling back to our earlier coverage, in conservative legal circles, he has few rivals. As Politico recently noted, the jurist has spent much of his adult life operating “at the top of the conservative legal world.”

Luttig has been an attorney in the Reagan White House, a clerk for Antonin Scalia, and one of the nation’s most prominent conservative judges, overseeing clerks with familiar names such as Ted Cruz and John Eastman. Not surprisingly, during some recent Republican administrations, Luttig was considered for the U.S. Supreme Court.

When then-Vice President Mike Pence and his team weighed their legal options after the 2020 election, they sought the former judge’s advice. He told them to follow the law. They did.

Nearly two years later, Luttig delivered a warning to the bipartisan select panel investigating the attack on the Capitol: Trump and his confederates not only targeted our democracy after losing in 2020, they’re prepared to do so again.

On vaccines for kids, Florida's DeSantis makes a bizarre call
“[T]o this very day,” the retired jurist testified, “the former president, his allies and supporters pledge that in the presidential election of 2024, if the former president or his anointed successor as the Republican Party presidential candidate were to lose that election, that they would attempt to overturn that 2024 election in the same way that they attempted to overturn the 2020 election, but succeed in 2024, where they failed in 2020.”

He added that “they are executing that blueprint in open and plain view of the American public.”

There’s a school of thought that says the Jan. 6 investigation is unnecessary — an idea espoused by those eager to, as they put it, “move on.” The pushback to such an argument is obvious: Given the seriousness of the plot against our political system, accountability demands an accounting of what happened and who was responsible.

But even if one is mistakenly indifferent to those questions, the point of this exercise is not inherently retrospective: The committee’s work and the search for truth is about our future, too.

A Washington Post report added, “Jan. 6, Luttig said, was a war within a broader war over the future of the country, ‘a war irresponsibly instigated by the former president and his political allies, and his supporters.’ The war rages today, he added, and ‘as a political matter of fact, only the party that instigated this war over our democracy can bring an end to this war.’”

Luttig was right to remind everyone about this foundational truth. One can only hope his ostensible Republican allies were listening.
