Aloha,
I was booking with Karl back in November 2019 for April 2020. Was curious why my deposit was never charged (so, he knew at that time already). Today I learned that "headquarters office formerly known as Vela Resorts Inc is now closed" and "longtime team at this Hood River office have moved on to new adventures". Super nice, now I do not even know if I'm booked at all with the accommodation since nobody warned me before the airtickets were purchased. Arrrh!
Anyway, good luck to them with those new adventures. |

Here's more complete info.
I've booked Baja trips thru Karl for decades now. He decided to change professions. "Vela" has basically converted to venue-specific management - at least as far as VelaBaja goes. Just visited for two weeks in January and have already booked for 2021.
Booking process is more efficient.
Management of that ownership/management transition was not as smoothly handled. However, Neil Howe with VelaBaja is VERY responsive and doing all he can to ensure efficient operations and satisfied clients moving forward.
Contact him at:
VelaBaja Adventure Sports <velabaja@gmail.com>
No clue as to how Corona V will affect matters of course.
Feel free to ask additional questions and/or to mention my referral.

Lucky you. Our trip to Cabarete in April is most likely busted. |

Well, it was fortuitous timing.
VelaBaja shutting down early due to CV.
Expect you would have been impacted similarly?
Never been to Cabarete, but perhaps someday (Aruba twice).
For now, SF Bay season approaches and in spite of "Shelter in Place", we are being encouraged to get outdoor exercise - maintaining appropriate social distancing of course. Easy to achieve with WSing, as is the advised saltwater gargling.
Early 2021 international travel looking doubtful given CV epidemiological trends.
