What is the min tide you can effectively try and learn to wingnut in HMB harbor ( AKA wingfoiling, named wingnutting by my wife which happens to be growing on me ). Last time I tried there I kept getting pushed back into the Princeton beach sand (where the now gone pier use to be) on a south wind. I was thinking to try hiking out toward the Mavericks watch beach and launch facing east on the south wind inside the harbor. I think the water is deeper there, but not sure. Tide today is going to be -0.5ft when the wind is likely best. Or.......should I just plan on windsurfing today with the tide so low? Any tips out there for the 3rd day wingnutter? Or min tide point where one should throw in the towel?

Pm minus means a long upwind walk, not a huge deal. You need upper chest deep water for the foil mast.
Stay upwind by sinking windward rail.
When flying, same thing.
Only actively pumping up, do you flatten the board.

Yes, went yesterday and very doable even in a minus tide. Just a long walk upwind and then the water gets deep pretty quick.

Also works well on N and NNW winds, after a storm.

NW, wind is kinda confined to SE corner of the bay.
I'm sure the locals wing out of JC's block, about 2 blocks S of the jetty.
Small shorepound, usually smaller than 4'.

We used to windsurf at Distillery Beach, hike down from parking lot.
And higher tides at Venice. Low tide is closeout shorebreak.
Too bad Martin's is mostly closed..the best spot.
