lower michigan...
portage river near vicksburg affecting kalamazoo county
.a low pressure system will produce under an inch of rainfall today
and tonight. the extended outlook is for high pressure sunday and
monday. the following forecast is based on observed and forecast 24
hour precipitation.
precautionary/preparedness actions...
safety message... motorists should not attempt to drive around
barricades or drive cars through flooded areas.

* until late monday night.
* at 7:00 am saturday the stage was 4.96 feet.
* flood stage is 5.0 feet.
* forecast, the river is expected to rise to near flood stage
tomorrow early afternoon.
* impact, at 5.0 feet...expect overflows into wooded areas and
farmland adjacent to the river
* flood history, this crest compares to a previous crest of 5.0 feet
on apr 20 2013.

kankakee river at davis affecting la porte...starke and st. joseph
counties
.river levels will continue to drop on the kankakee river at davis.
minor flooding will continue.
precautionary/preparedness actions...
never drive vehicles through flooded areas. the water may be too deep
to allow safe passage. never allow children to play in or near flood
waters. stay tuned to noaa weather radio or local media for further
statements and updated forecasts.

the kankakee river at davis
* until wednesday evening.
* at 9 am saturday the stage was 10.7 feet and steady.
* minor flooding is occurring and minor flooding is forecast.
* flood stage is 10.0 feet.
* forecast...the river will fall below the 10.0 foot flood stage
around 7 pm tuesday august 30.
* at 11.0 feet...flooding of secondary roads near the river begins.
