open lake forecast for lake michigan
national weather service milwaukee/sullivan wi
907 am cst wed jan 22 2020

for waters beyond five nautical miles of shore on lake michigan.

waves are provided as a range of significant wave heights, which
is the average of the highest 1/3 of the wave, along with the
average height of the highest 10% of the waves which will
occasionally be encountered.

.synopsis...

a broad area of low pressure averaging 29.7 inches will push
across the plains into the upper midwest today. as this system
gradually works its way east, southwesterly gales are expected to
develop over most of the northern half of the lake through early
this evening. this broad low is expected to weaken before reaching
the great lakes region, which will allow for the winds to briefly
weaken on thursday before another area of low pressure around
29.8 inches approaches from the plains late thursday. this will
result in winds shifting to the east late in the week, possibly
becoming northerly heading into the weekend as the low passes
south of the region.
